I live in OC and I want to buy an approved helmet.  Can anyone recommend a good place to buy one?  I can't see buying one on-line; I would think you need to try it on for proper fit.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I got mine at Dave Turner Motorsports in Clairemont Mesa (San Diego).  Dave is a great supporter of the track/racing community.

Incase you don't find local what you want, I went to Helmetcity.com and ended up with a Simpson Voyager II since it has a larger eye opening than some.  I followed the suggestions on measurement and the fit is perfect, just required finding the wife's cloth measuring tape.  Good luck and Happy Holidays!

Helmet city is in Oakland though.  I got mine from Dave Turner too a couple years ago.  Since Bieffe takes the whole month of August off (I think that's the norm in Italy), DT shop let me have a Simpson as loaner for a whole month until my Bieffe was delivered.

I didn't try it before I bought and had it shipped from SD, but they agreed that if the fit wasn't good (before I used it at a track event), I could drive to SD and replace it with another size.  Great shop to deal with.

That's what I did, helmet fits perfect. Tell 'em you're a member of the Viperclub (use my membereship #11244) and get a 10% discount.
