APCC - American Power Conversion, Corp. I woke up this morning and realized while making my coffee that the blackout in the east is going to lead a lot of people to buy UPS's. So, I ran over to my notebook and bought some shares. It's now up 10% today. I think there'll be a spike today (perhaps not more that the 10%), and a spike again when they report earnings for this quarter, which should reflect an unforecasted spike in sales
Of course this is all just speculation by an amateur

We get so many power outages here from car wrecks and high winds, I've just gotten used to it. Never even considered gettingn a UPS. I hear Bush is talking about "modernizing" the nation's electric grid. If you can find someone in that field: cha-ching.

At work. Oh, that's not the question, is it? I live in Sunland, just at the edge of the mountains, so we get some crazy winds (not to mention drivers). The main road was shut down last night and power was out until 11:30 due to some accident. My favorite is when the power lines get blown down and start a wildfire.

Bought APCC on July 21st at 17.940
Sold today at 21.671
Return: 23%
