I wish we knew. We've just started getting our first dates for 2004, and have a couple of Laguna Seca's and a Sears Point right now, but that's all we know. What time of year is best for Sebring? Is February or March a bad time? It would be nice to try to optimize it

February/March/April would be ideal before the heat comes in.
I have been in March/April and June with March and June with you guys and June was just brutal.

I second that. Us Florida people would love to get more track time with speedventures in the future. Spring is the best time to come.

Ok, thanks for the dates advice. We're doing what we can to get some good Spring dates, but at this point that's about all I can tell you
What about Fall? Is there a good time in Sept/Oct/Nov?

Fall is good as well preferably Oct/Nov as Sept can sometimes still be hot.

Come on you have to get your priorities straight, we now have Tivo, VCR and DVDR available to record and watch later.

getting closer guys! I wonder what will fall off the car between now and then--having to replace rack/pinion now. john, you said t1 record for sebring is 2:25 or something, right? what would it take to do 2:15? I talked to an old acquaintance last night and he said he'd like to join us and we got to talking about the track. he said his best lap here was 2:15. I was like but I didn't call bs. he's got a gen3 rx7 that he's beefed up to 500 something hp. anyhoot, I'm really looking forward to going out again--got my new shocks, sways, bushings, wheels, tires and can't wait to see the improvement.

Errr....well, that's pretty unlikely...GT1 cars (Trans Am Cars) and Formula Atlantics run in the 2:13 - 2:15 range. It would have to be an absolutely stripped car running slicks to turn that time, imho.
Hmmm...the car sounds good...I'm going to have to work out some kind of co-drive deal with you

Eric,
That was pretty funny hearing from you. The last time I saw you you I think you were sloched also. But it was nice talking to you.

Well, 3:15 would be pretty slow. He might have done that time on the short course, in which case I have no clue if that is good or not.

Good point, I think of Sebring as the 12 hours course, but of course it could have been a different config.

haven't talked to him since but when I did, he specifically said it was the full course--he mentioned how he was the master of turn 17 and all.

Well, if he's the master of Turn 17, I for one would like to see him at our event, so he can show us how it's done

Yeah, that 17 is tough so long I am not sure which way to take it. I have been shown 2 different ways to take it.

In all of my *vast* experience driving Sebring.... .....I liked straightening the entry and braking on it diagonally almost to the bridge, then throttling through the 2nd half the turn. In a higher-hp car than my Jag X-type rental that might not work though. In the Jag I could wait to brake until after turning onto the diagonal, if you know what I mean.
In a vette, for instance, I would think you'd have to take it more traditionally, and sweep it. Probably in a 350Z too, though maybe not on R-Compounds.

That is the last way I was told to do it and it really works better, the guy was my instructor and he had a 350Z with stock tires and went through it pretty well, he was running around in the high 2:30's range.

Well, I got the email and was disappointed to hear it was cancelled, I really like your group and speaking for myself I would be willing to pay another 100 for the weekend whcih would be in line with what other clubs would charge.

(Dunno how I didn't see this for soooo long, but)
Gus, I wish I could say that another $100 per entry would do it, but it wouldn't have. The problem, of course, was that we did a horrible job of getting the word out in FL, and very few people knew we existed. Maybe someday, who knows, we can make a proper try getting back into FL, but for now it's not in the cards.
Sorry about that, we had a great time down there, and will really miss running Sebring

John, I have been thinking of maybe a way we could do this. Our main problem as local clubs is the insurance issue for single events, but if maybe we could use your organization for that purpose and some of us local clubs organize the attendance we could make it work, what do you think?

I can understand where you're coming from on the insurance, but you'll be sorry to hear we buy our insurance one event at a time as well. We can point you in the right direction, but about $2k for a weekend is the going rate.
