How about Willow Spring counter clock wise? I don't think I've ever seen that done. It would really change a lot of perspectives.;-)

Think about this for a minute. T9 would be nothing, you'd be accelerating all the way through 9, 8, 7, big braking before cresting the hill at 6, blind approach and transition from downhill to up hill in 5, that would be hairy and fun! 4 would be little different, 3 would be fun with a lot of potential for disaster if you went off. 2 would be much more fun, being down hill, and 1 would be ok. I think the track would actually be more fun in reverse, but I'm sure they'd never let you do it...hmmm...

Well, come to SOWS this weekend then. The track favors your car by far, but I'm willing to give it a shot

Hell no! You won't catch me running in that car during the summer! It's hot enough in winter! I'm going to get the header Jet coated and install a better heat shield on the firewall. I'm still thinking about getting a cool-air helmet and NACA ducts to feed it.
Besides, I still have to replace the engine output adapter and fix the crack in the transmission case from the OTC.
Remember what I said about excuses?
By the way, how many acounts do you have (or have I been ragging on the wrong John)?

Nice, nice. Alright, I guess I'll see you sometime in the 3 week window between blazing summer and rain when the prochasis can run
I have these two accounts, and I keep forgetting and logging on as the other. They're both me.

Naw, I'll be ready to run all winter. Hoosier is supposed to have a rain tire for the car next month.

Hmm... as far as accesibility and affordability I think BW CCW is #1.
Ideally , laguna seca is unbeatable for having the best tarmac, the most "history" and some of the harshes burms in the world.
Thunderhill, CCW, is a very close 2nd to laguna, though, as it's a really beautiful track, and feels a lot safer than laguna did. Now , if only it didn't cost 300/day to run laguna, and thill was closer, I'd be set.
The more I drive, the more I learn to appreciate Big Track at Willow, but I still abhore Streets.
Holtvile... I'd rather not.

I really like Laguna as a track and for its history. It probably helps that I've done the whole week with Skippy school there. I've laid down multiple laps within +/- .001 second at this track. Eight (corkscrew) and nine are way cool. I would bet that Thunderhill's designers thought about these turns.
Buttonwillow, while it's a neat track (bus stop is bitchen') is just too damned flat.
Sears has some pretty cool sections - the carousel, for one. NASCAR doesn't know what they're missing. Or maybe they do.
However, I think I'm going to have to vote for Thunderhill in the "normal" direction. It's blind and off camber sections make it probably the most challenging of any track in the state, probably among the best in the country (although that's a guess, as I'm not too familiar with the rest of the country's tracks). I haven't seen much in car video that tells me different though...
Someday I'll have to get down to Willow...

Willow Springs might be the most technically challenging track in California. It's not that it's complicated, of course. But you can literally spend years working on perfecting your line at that ostensibly 'easy' course. It's a track that rewards subtle changes, and -- of course -- it isn't fast at all unless you understand momentum.
It's also the benchmark track for west coast racers. It's only got one layout and one direction, and it ain't gonna change anytime soon.
But California has a lot of awesome tracks. Laguna, Sears and Thunderhill are also really great road courses.

I agree Jack. I have a love/hate relationship with that place! I love WSIR for the sheer speeds involved there. I do, however, really enjoy the technical nature that Buttonwillow offers.

I think we Californian's are pretty darn lucky. All the tracks are pretty darn good. But my favorite is still Sears Point. Super technical, and fabulous elevation changes to feel all the extra G's. Thunderhill CW is a close close 2nd... And everything else a super close 3rd. LOL.
