2004 Corvette Challenge Series Classification Though the classing is centered around C5-era Corvettes, C4, C3, etc are welcome to participate, though they may be at a competitive disadvantage depending on their level of modification. A note on weight reduction: Any weight reduction will be normalized based upon the weight of a stock coupe. For instance, a modified coupe at standard weight may weigh 3200lbs w/430hp, giving it a ratio of 7.44lbs per hp. This is the limit for the stock classes. If you have a Vette with 350hp which weighs 2600lbs, your ratio is 7.42lbs / hp. This places you squarely in Modified at the least, despite the fact you have only 350hp. Incidentally, the weight difference between a stock convertible and a stock coupe is not great enough to warrant a hp exemption for the vert. This classification system is subject to change at any time. Draft #3: Currently in force. STOCK C5's are also allowed the following in Stock (not allowed on Z06 in this class): Any air filter MODIFIED C5's: same as Stock + up to 100 points from Points Listing below PRODUCTION UNLIMITED (Anything goes, including any tire, no points limitations)
Modifications & Points
Spec competition tires would include Toyo RA-1's, Kumho Victoracers and Ecsta 700's, Yokohama A032R's and the new A032RS. Hoosiers are temporarily in the spec to allow those who have them to use them up, but the current plan is to define them as a non-spec tire a few events into the season. Defining spec tires is an effort to keep costs down, as Hoosiers are considerably more expensive. Non-Spec tires will include: non-DOT Slicks, and any r-compound (tires with a treadwear less than 120). The only slicks allowed are hard-compound slicks.
